Spring session begins Monday, April 12 and ends Monday, May 24. All musical theater classes will be held on Mondays, as follows:
Ages 7 to 10 from 4:30 to 5:30 PM (Tuition is $60)
Ages 11 to 15 from 5:45 to 7:00 PM (Tuition is $70)

Musical Theater will be taught by Neska, a musical director and teacher with over 40 years of experience. For more information, see her bio in our staff section.

To register for class, call Kira at 244-7122. Then, print off the necessary forms here, and bring them (along with your tuition) to your first class. All classes will be held in the theater at the BB&T Center for the Performing Arts in Luray.

The musical theater classes will focus on interpretation and presentation of songs from the classic American Musical repertoire (Oklahoma, Annie, Sound of Music, Annie get your Gun, etc.). Students will work on group numbers and duets. Interested students may also ask to work on a solo pieces. Our last day of class will include a share day for parents, family and friends.

The cast and crew did an terrific job bringing Hans Christian Andersen’s tale to life and we’ll be posting some photos, and perhaps a little video, in the near future.

In the meantime, I want to thank everyone involved with The Snow Queen for all of their dedication and hard work; particularly our volunteers! Theater is a team effort and we couldn’t do the show without you.

Beginning Acting (aka Acting II) for grades 6-8 and Intro to Acting (Acting 1) for grades 3-5 have been combined and meet on Saturdays from 10:45 to 11:45.

Scenes and One Acts for grades 9-12 (Mondays, 6-7:30) has been cancelled.

The 2010 Winter session will run from January 9 through March 22, with a student showcase for parents, family and friends on March 27. All classes will be held at the BB&T Center for the Performing Arts in Luray.

We also made the decision to double cast our lead role, Gerda. We are currently in the process of deciding who will perform on which dates and will keep you posted.

In the meantime, those folks who want to get a jump start on the read through scheduled for Tuesday can visit the script HERE.

This workshop is designed to teach youth in grades K-12 about theater through rehearsal and performance a non-musical play. Students will learn about acting techniques, voice and diction, vocal projection, movement, set design, props, costumes, lighting, and publicity. And we’re not just looking for students who want to be on stage; there are plenty of opportunities for students off stage. Please refer to the links (right) for a complete cast and crew lists.

Students interested in being on stage do not need to prepare anything for the auditions. We will be reading from the script and staging scenes to narration.

Rehearsals be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:30 at the BB&T Center for the Performing Arts beginning October 6. There will be no rehearsals on Thanksgiving or Dec 1 (Luray parade), and there will be extra rehearsals on December 8 and 11.

Performances will be held December 12, 13, 19 & 20 at 2:30 PM.

Tuition for this workshop is $50 per student. Scholarships and family discounts are available.
